Ascot race days are one of the highlights of summer events season. Ladies from London and further afield flock to the renowned venue to discuss the odds, enjoy the first rays of spring sunshine (hopefully!) and showcase the stunning outfit that has been waiting patiently in their wardrobe for weeks.
On the opening day of Ascot, we had the privilege of attending the races along with seven of our fashion blogger friends. As soon as each woman stepped into the room, the diversity in style was apparent. Boasting beautiful spring colour palettes, textures and eye-catching accessories, the bloggers embodied individuality. Monica from The Elgin Avenue (below) opted for a classic and feminine race look with our trend-driven Gillenia cold shoulder dress, whilst Hannah Gale (below in sunglasses) also chose navy in the form of our Perdita wrap dress – the thicker material is perfect for the start of spring, when you can never predict the British weather!
We were lucky enough to spend the day in a private box overlooking the race track and had a brilliant view of the races from start to finish, screaming for our favourites as they dashed by. Our host Alan, a betting expert, gave us tips while we enjoyed an amazing three-course meal featuring delicious canapes, salmon and crab cakes, slow cooked lamb and a tangy yet creamy lemon cheesecake. After everyone thought they could eat no more, an afternoon tea banquet arrived with sandwiches full of classic British fillings and the most luxurious miniature cakes.
Rhiannon from LifenStyle (pictured top right of this blog) stood out in our Chinoiserie print dress and matching cobalt accessories, which created the most elegant of looks, while Ella from Coco’s Tea Party (below) was effortlessly ethereal in our Eternity maxi dress.
Time seemed to race by (no pun intended!) and before we knew it, we had chatted the afternoon away and were keen for a final group photo with our fabulous guest photographer, Marlene Lee. We braved the chilly weather and gathered outside with amazing smiles and even better outfits.
